what is worldview intensive program
Worldview Intensive Program
Many young Indigenous adults struggle to transition into full-time work or study, contributing to reliance on income support. Secure employment is crucial for improving well-being and breaking the cycle of disadvantage. Community-led initiatives like the Worldview Intensive Program are essential for addressing systemic issues and empowering Indigenous voices.
The Worldview Intensive Program is a six-month program that engages First Nations young adults facing high barriers to entering the workforce.
Individuals are placed into full-time, award wage employment through WV Technologies, our profit-for-purpose, majority indigenous-owned social enterprise to gain supported work experience, skills, and relevant qualifications. Throughout the program, Worldview Foundation supports each participant to overcome the barriers that are holding them back from securing full-time employment. At the end of the program, participants are placed into full-time employment through Worldview Pathways.
Individuals are identified through community relationships, employment services, and the justice system and BreakThrough Life Skills and Pre-Employment Bootcamps. We undertake a comprehensive assessment and bespoke mentoring and support throughout the program period.
The Worldview Intensive Program supports individuals to build life skills, address health issues, improve financial literacy, get their driver’s license, and build positive social and cultural connections.
What we Provide
Our programs are aimed at overcoming cyclical disadvantage and reducing recidivism.
Worldview Intensive Program participants are supported to access health care providers including local General Practitioners and mental health professionals.
Participants are regularly taken to the supermarket to shop for healthy food choices and cook a meal together each Friday for lunch.
Our program incorporates regular cultural excursions, visits from community leaders and mentors and on-country experiences connecting participants to their culture and community.
Program mentors help our participants to access accommodation support where this is needed. This might include accessing Centrelink services, social housing or applying for private rentals.
The Worldview Driver Program helps to ensure all our program participants have a drivers license and are able to drive to work.
Program mentors work with each participant to ensure they have an active bank account and can effectively budget and manage their money.
A big part of the Worldview Intensive Program is the time each participant spends with our mentors to help them establish a growth mindset and set personal goals for their working future.
Every Worldview Intensive Program participant is employed through our social enterprise, paid an award wage and coached to build and maintain positive workplace skills.
